Volcano Eruption in Iceland 2014! Holuhraun / Bardarbunga Volcano - What's On in Iceland
In September 2014 What's On (www.whatson.is) travelled to the eruption site at Holuhraun, north of Bardarbunga in the middle of Iceland with the purpose of getting amazing footage and writing about the experience.
This video includes footage from air, shot during a scenic flight a few days before driving to the roots of the eruption.
This is an unsafe area, inaccessible to the general public and we took every precaution necessary, travelled with seasoned experts and had appropriate permits for everything.
A volcanic eruption is a magnificent thing to see, but has to be respected to full extent.

Wonder if a gas mask is a normal thing to carry with you now on iceland? Think of 1783!
The warning systems should be better with methods, warning alarm signals like the air attack sirens on the roof tops and personal in each country engaged with USGS and weather authorities. Exercisis of the systems function. Protection against dangerous gases like Israels gas mask campaigns. Information in schools. Believe me there are now many signs we are entering a very dangerous volcanic period with gases coming from the interior of mother Earth, not least around the Alps.
The crack in the crust is getting longer and longer and this is beginning to look like 1783. The SO 2 gases are building crystals which will reflect the sun shine and the coming summer in the northern hemisphere might be very cold causing failed harvests and starving. Follow this event I recommend you!
